Mercury has just passed the interior conjunction with the Sun and will station direct on August 11 at 15Leo34. This will begin the Mercury Leo Overstory, lasting until November 13. With a strong, aggressive, and super confident Leo Mercury being birthed this week, it’s a great time to voice a few inconvenient astrological truths.
The 13th Sign Hoax
A quote I recently came upon motivated me to bring up the 13th sign issue again.
One of my favorite musicians, Robert Fripp, wrote:
“Silence is the field of creative musical intelligence that dwells in the space between the notes, and hold them in place.”
Why is this relevant in our context? Beginning in 1922 and finalized in 1928 and 1930, an international body known as the International Astronomical Union (IAU) took it upon themselves to redraw and redefine the sky. They created boundaries for 88 constellations. Doing so eliminated an essential feature of how the ancients knew the night sky: Previously in human history, the space between the constellations was as important as the star patterns themselves! The Greek constellations, for example, numbered 28, with lots of space in between, which was known as “unformed stars.”
Not only was empty space, i.e. the space between the celestial melodies, eliminated, but the 88 newly rendered constellations were given weird and boxy straight lines and angles – in my view, rather without any aesthetics.
Even more egregious was what they did with Ophiuchus! They carved out a portion of Scorpius and inserted Ophiuchus along the ecliptic, thus sparking the perpetually resurfacing idea that there are 13 signs along the zodiac/ecliptic! I have it from a trusted source that the IAU did this on purpose to confuse and mess with astrologers. Sadly, they succeeded. The twelveness of the division of the Zodiacal band is ancient. Recent research by Thomas Tao reveals that the origin of this twelveness goes back to Neolithic China, predating even Sumeria and India. Ophiuchus is certainly important as a constellation, as all authentic constellational patterns are, but it’s not a 13th sign.
The 8-8 Lion’s Gate
Another hoax that has a great deal of glamour associated with it, is the 8-8 Lion’s Gate phenomenon. I have written about this elsewhere. Here is a link to that research.
In fairness, humans can project something special onto most anything they like: number combinations, make-believe alignments, obscure prophecy, etc. However, considerably greater power emanates from genuine cosmological events: New and Full Moons, Solstices and Equinoxes, the Great Turning of The Ages, the end of Kali Yuga - to name just a few.
In this Leo Mercury Overstory, now going through its birthing process, from a place of courage and self-love, be willing to speak the truth and expose the glamorous deceptions creating discord and confusion.

Thank you for this one! I get these kinds of comments on the 13th sign fairly regularly and they drive me a bit nuts, mostly because it is usually from someone telling me that their system is the "correct" system.
And, on the 8/8 meme, I was just thinking this morning about this overlay on the ancient holyday of Lammas.
